ENG: This moon jar, 'Luminoso' (meaning ‘luminous’ or ‘bright’ in Italian), is the smallest vase in my Scèti Collection, named after the Sardinian word for the finest wheat flour—a powder so pure and white it reminded me of the ceramic surface I was trying to achieve. Thrown on the wheel from white clay, this piece underwent two firings: first at 980°C, then a second at 950°C after applying the matte crystalline glaze. Each curve and line reflects countless hours of practice with Korean moon jar techniques, simplified into what I believe is essential. Though it could serve as a vase, I prefer to see it as a sculptural piece. The matte finish extends to the interior, not because tradition demands it, but because I believe a form should be honest throughout. The surface has a subtle, velvety quality that transforms with the changing light, sometimes appearing soft as flour, sometimes radiating a gentle luminosity that inspired its name. Like the wheat that once left our Sardinian harbours to feed the Roman Empire, this piece connects past and present. ITA: Questo Moon Jar (vaso lunare), 'Luminoso', è il più piccolo della mia Collezione Scèti, il cui nome deriva dalla parola sarda per indicare il fior di farina: una farina così bianca e pura da ricordarmi la superficie ceramica che stavo cercando di ottenere. Modellato al tornio con argilla bianca, questo pezzo ha subito due cotture: la prima a 980°C, poi una seconda a 950°C dopo l’applicazione dello smalto cristallino opaco. Ogni sua curva e linea riflette innumerevoli ore di pratica con le tecniche coreane del Moon Jar, ma ridotte all’essenziale. Sebbene possa fungere da vaso, preferisco considerarlo come un’opera scultorea. La finitura opaca si estende all’interno, non perché la tradizione lo imponga, ma per coerenza estetica. La superficie ha una qualità vellutata sottile che si trasforma con il variare della luce, apparendo a volte morbida come farina, a volte irradiando una delicata luminosità che ne ha ispirato il nome. Come il grano che un tempo lasciava i nostri porti sardi per nutrire l’Impero Romano, questo pezzo vuole intrecciare passato e presente.
